Embracing Authentic Connections: A Message from Axel Starviking

We invited Axel Starviking, president of the CTBC Business Chamber for Upper Coastal Towns, to share his story at one of our business networking events. Axel’s unique perspective on business networking and embracing authentic connections offers valuable insights.

Building a Supportive Community

I’m Axel Starviking, president of the CTBC Business Chamber for Upper Coastal Towns. Our chamber is a tight-knit community that thrives on supporting each other and embracing a unique approach, especially during these challenging financial times. Tonight, I’m truly grateful to see so many board members and chamber members here. Your support and active participation are what make our business networking events meaningful and impactful.

A Journey Across Creative Industries

At 43, my journey has been anything but conventional. Living with ADHD and being on the autism spectrum, I’ve navigated a diverse career across 45 creative industries worldwide. My experiences span from being a touring opera singer and music producer to a classical composer, painter, photographer, classical pianist, tattoo artist, and pathology collector. I also run a clinic where I explore various therapeutic modalities and have authored nine books, including an extensive volume on hypnosis and counseling. For me, living life to the fullest and chasing passions is not just a belief—it’s a way of life.

The Essence of Business Networking

I am deeply passionate about our community here on the Central Coast. I believe every individual carries a rich tapestry of stories and lessons, and I strive to connect on a genuine, human level. True networking goes beyond the exchange of business cards; it’s about creating meaningful connections through eye contact, body language, and the sincerity of our interactions.

Building Authentic Relationships

Over the past two years with the chamber, I’ve come to realise how powerful a simple facial expression can be. Each interaction, whether at formal business networking events or a casual chat, reflects who we truly are. It’s important to consider what your eyes and demeanor are communicating. Are you radiating hope, optimism, and genuine interest?

Life, Passion, and Connection

Networking is about more than just business—it’s about building authentic relationships. I recall a recent conversation with one of our members, who shared personal stories about his travels and family. This is the essence of true networking: understanding who you can rely on and being a reliable person in return. Whether it’s offering a kind word or support during challenging times, these connections are what truly matter.

Final Reflections

Life is fleeting, and I believe we should seize every opportunity to live fully. Despite personal challenges and losses, I remain committed to embracing each moment with authenticity and passion. My advice to you is to engage wholeheartedly in every connection, live as though each moment might be your last, and approach every interaction with sincerity. Hug as if it’s the last hug you’ll give, shake hands with genuine warmth, and always strive to be a good person.

Thank you for your presence and dedication to our business networking community. Your involvement makes a difference, and together, we can continue to support and uplift each other.
